Citrus Op J beginnings date back to World War II. It was in 1941 that the original owner, Talbert Nelson received the patent for the first orange juice squeezer. After returning from serving his country in World War Two, Mr. Nelson set up business in Manhattan. During the 1950’s the business was relocated to Queens. At that time the company marketed its superior juicer under the company’s original name of Avatar Design and Manufacturing. Citrus Op J is the new name that Avatar Design and Manufacturing sells its products under. The second generation of the Nelson family, Mr. Stewart Nelson has taken over the operation.
During the company’s long history Mr. Stewart Nelson and his father Mr. Talbert Nelson worked tirelessly to find ways to make the juicers more efficient. The result has been machines that produce a superior product with minimal prep needed by the operator. Citrus Op J holds patents in the orange and citrus squeezing technology.
Throughout the history of manufacturing juice machines Citrus Op J and Avatar machines have been made here in the United States. Helping to keep Americans employed has been a goal of the company’s since day one back in 1945.
Through the years the company has received media attention, and thank you from many a client. Yet one thank you that will stand out in our minds is from the White House. It was our pleasure to have a juicer of ours placed in the White House during the Clinton Administration. Click here to see letter
